Westbrook's Notes: Bates' History is short 38 names in this
Company, having no account of them. This Roll is dated dec 31, 1861, at
Camp Griffin, Va.; signed by Captain Joseph M. Greene and Colonel William
H. Irwin and checked off from the Rolls in Adjutant General's Office at
Harrisburg, Pa. The date of Com. Officers Greene, Davidson and Harper is
July 4, 1861. All remaining in Company July 11, 63 were transferred to
Co. D.
Breth's Transcription Notes: Corrections were made only if certainly
known. Alphabetical order of names was corrected. No dates were changed
or omitted. This Regiment also called Penn's Valley Infantry. The residence
listed is actually the muster point. Some surname spellings do not agree
with Linn's History.
*****NOTE: Robert Westbrook
complains many times in his book that Samuel P. Bates' "History of the
Pennsylvania Volunteers" contains many errors of ommision. Listed below
are Westbrook's discrepancies with Bates.
